Yes, and then some. It's a miserable place, and it's hard to keep the spirits up, though I am trying. I do wish I could improve the spirits of the people here. It's such a bleak place and they've seen so many grow ill. Hopefully the Inquisition can do enough for them.
[ It's been a day since he left Skyhold on his journey to the dilapidated Sacred Temple, and already, a gnawing worry niggles away to the point of distraction. Felix has sharply declined in the last few weeks since, which is a terrible time for Dorian to finally have his claws unhooked from Skyhold and sent on an errand.
He's due to return in the evening after next, but still, the hike through the mountains is a long one when it's on foot, over ice and rock. He finds a quiet moment, when they make camp, to take out his sending crystal. ]
Hello, Felix. I trust all is well, if impossibly dull without me.
Believe me, the company I'm entertaining currently isn't particularly marvellous. Two Templars and a Dalish. It's like the start of a joke Varric might tell.
[ There's a light knocking on Felix's door, Adelaide poking her head in after she's given leave to enter. While not a woman with many fine things she is wearing her finest kirtle for the celebration, hair pinned back in loose curls and braids around her head, and in her hands a tray. ]
I thought, perhaps, since you are unable to attend the celebration, some of it might come up to join you?
[Felix is pleased to see her and manages a smile at her appearance.
He had been enjoying listening to the noise that filtered through his
window and he admits to being happy over not being alone.]
[ After her talk with Cyril, Ellana stalled for quite some time. Her relationship with Felix was still new, and she didn't want to jump ahead with anything. She could certainly wait, and wanted to wait for intimacy, but she wasn't sure how Felix felt. He was very much the type to put his own wants aside for the wants of those he cared for.
But now enough time has passed that she thinks this is a topic they can breach. She calls him one evening, after supper. ]
Felix, are you busy? I'd like to talk in person, but it's nothing that can't wait if you're in the middle of something.
[ On returning from the Hinterlands with another shapeshift form under her belt, Ellana joked to Felix that he should expect a tiny fennec appearing in his tent someday. But after a quiet night alone in her room, she realizes she's too used to the sounds of people nearby to fall asleep. Without that, she's just tossing and turning. Around midnight, she slips out of bed and out of Skyhold on four paws, heading down to the Wardens' camp.
She weaves between tents unnoticed, until she finds Felix's and sneaks in under the flap. Then she hops up onto his cot, noses her way under the covers, and climbs up his body to curl herself in a ball on his chest, head tucked under his chin. ]
[Felix was lightly dozing - It's hard to get a really deep sleep with the Calling forever there in his dreams. He wakes when the small creature climbs on his bedroll, though it takes him a moment to realize exactly what is happening.
Anyone else might freak out about finding a wild animal sleeping on them, but he remembers what Ellana had said. Plus, freaking out a real fennec is a good way to get scratched.]
I hope you're Ellana, little creature. Otherwise this might be a bit awkward.
[ The fennec rubs her head under his chin and makes a content little noise that could be taken as a yes. She'll turn back soon enough, but her fur is nice and warm so she wants to take a moment to savor it. ]
[ After coming out of the Fade, Ellana was carried to the healers' tent set up in the camp outside Adamant. And there she was healed much more thoroughly than time had allowed in the Fade. She's still weak from blood loss, and in a moderate amount of pain, but she doesn't want to bother any healers for another spell or potion to lesser the pain right now. She keeps turning over what happened, wishing she could have been faster to avoid the Terror demon's claws. She remembers seeing a desire demon take Felix's form, but she knew he wasn't real. He's safe at Skyhold.
Suddenly, Ellana hurries to take the locket with her sending crystal out from under her shirt. Opening it, she rests it on her chest and thinks of Felix. ]
Yes. [ She almost wasn't. How can she even begin to tell him what happened? She doesn't want to upset him or leave him worrying for her, but she doesn't want to withhold the truth either. ] Is the Calling gone for you?
She spoke to Felix while she was away, helping the Rivaini mages who had been recaptured by the Templars. But nothing is quite the same as seeing him face to face and feeling his lips on hers.
As is customary for her whenever she returns to Skyhold, Ellana stops at the Warden camp before even going inside to drop off her bag. But this time she wants to have her bag of clothes and such with her, because she's brought presents!
On seeing Felix, she gently sets down her burden and hurries forward to hug him.
"Miss me? I'll bet you did, because I missed you! I have so much to tell you about my trip! And I bought you some things! I can't wait to see you open them." In fact, she probably would have shoved the presents into his arms first, had she not been so eager to place herself there.
Felix's entire expression brightened up when he saw Ellana. His arms opened and he easily held her close to him.
He chuckles a bit at her enthusiasm. It's weird how she can make his heart feel so light and happy. "I did miss you," he says. He always did when she was away - and worried terribly though he tried not to show that as much. "And if you have gifts, I'll happily open them."
"Good!" she answers, absolutely giddy and not afraid to show it. She goes for her bag, pulling out the first gift, which is wrapped in plain, brown paper. "I got you a few things to help you in your future pursuits with the Wardens," she explains, handing the parcel over. He'll find it's as light as a feather, and when he opens it, he'll find a set of bookmarks.
"If you'll be doing research, you'll need to keep your place in a lot of books, right?"

[He's mostly joking about that.] How about you? Is the Mire as terrible as I've heard?

Yes, and then some. It's a miserable place, and it's hard to keep the spirits up, though I am trying. I do wish I could improve the spirits of the people here. It's such a bleak place and they've seen so many grow ill. Hopefully the Inquisition can do enough for them.

[He considers what she's saying about the Mire then.]
Ah, it has a plague doesn't it? I'd hate to be taking the attention of healers if they are needed there.

[ She closes the door behind her and sets the tray on the side table, perching on the edge of the bed rather than the chair to offer her hand. ]
And I am quite fond of you. So I am exactly where I wish to be.
